Woman ‘steals SUV with 5 kids inside’ after driver stopped to assist her in crash

A Virginia girl has been arrested in North Carolina for allegedly swiping an SUV with 5 kids inside — after the motive force stopped to assist her following a multi-car crash.

The man driving the SUV had pulled over after witnessing the crash on Route 158 in Grandy on Sunday, the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office mentioned.

As the great Samaritan driver was checking on the car-crash victims, Markell Hancox, who was concerned within the accident, allegedly jumped into his SUV and took off.

Five kids have been contained in the SUV on the time, in line with deputies.

Hancox allegedly fled down the freeway earlier than abandoning the SUV in a close-by comfort retailer parking zone.

She was arrested a short while later after attempting to run away on foot, deputies mentioned.

The 5 kids have been discovered contained in the SUV protected and unhurt.

Hancox was hit with quite a lot of expenses, together with 5 counts of second-degree kidnapping, leaving the scene of an accident and larceny of a motorized vehicle.

She is being held on a $210,000 bond on the Currituck County Detention Center.
