Talking about Janet Mead, was an Australian Catholic nun who was born in 1938 in Adelaide, South Australia. She was best known for recording a pop-rock version of “The Lord’s Prayer” which was placed at the 3rd position on the Australian singles chart in the year 1974. The surprise hit was also reached 4th position on the Billboard hot 100 in the same year. She was also nominated for Grammy Award for her superhit single. It was sold out more than one and a half million copies and also received a gold disc by the RIAA on April 08, 1974. She was known as the second woman to have a top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart whilst a nun.

She was also known as Sister Marietta. She also taught music at St. Aloysius College, Adelaide, where the music video for “The Lord’s Prayer” was shot. After recording, Mead kept the visit to the school to teach the junior students basic music. She formed a band simply called The Rock Band when she was 17 years old. She started making professional recordings of her music for churches and schools in the year 1973. She moved to Sydney for a recording session with Festival Records, produced by Martin Erdman.
