Eddie Amoo was a popular singer and songwriter of the soul group, The Real Thing. He was also the brother of the group’s current lead vocalist, Chris Amoo.
Amoo gained huge fame in the 70s as the main singer of The Real Thing. In 1976, the group’s song, You To Me Are Everything topped the UK charts as No1 single.

Eddie Amoo was the brother of The Real Things’ current vocalist, Chris Amoo.

Since Eddie was the eldest brother, he was an inspiration to Chris. Chris looked up at him and he joined the group, The Real Thing with him as well.

The Real Thing Singer: Eddie Amoo Wikipedia Explored
Despite being a famed singer and pioneer of The Real Thing, Eddie Amoo does not own a Wikipedia page.
He was fond of music from childhood and his inspiration was Frankie Lymon ever since he attended Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers concert at the Liverpool Empire.
Eddie then dedicated himself to becoming a musical star. But it was hard for him as a half-black person to start a singing career in the 60s and 70s.
Amoo befriended Joey, and Edmund Ankrah, the sons of a minister. Then, he formed the band, The Chants with the Ankrah brothers, Alan Harding, ad Nat Smeeda.
After having some experience, Eddie formed his own band, The Real Thing in 1975. The group won ITV’s Opportunity Knocks and gained early success from You To Me Are Everything and Can’t Get By Without You.
Amoo remained in the spotlight until the 80s. He continued contributing to the music industry until he passed away on 23 February 2018.
