Serbegeth Singh began his football career with Johor FA before going to Federal Territory in 1983, where he was suspended for a year by Johor FA for reportedly moving without authorization.
He was most closely identified with Kuala Lumpur FA, where he was a member of the side that won the Malaysia Cup three years in a row from 1987 to 1989. He also played for Negeri Sembilan FA and Pahang FA until retiring in 1996 with Perak FA.
He represented Malaysia for nine years, appearing in three Asian Games in 1982, 1986, and 1990, and winning a Southeast Asian Games gold medal in 1989. From 1978 to 1996, he played in the English Premier League for eighteen years. He won the Malaysia Cup, Malaysian FA Cup, and League Championship, as well as every other domestic award.

Singh coached a fictitious football squad called ‘MyTeam’ for a Malaysian reality television show in 2006.
The squad was mostly made up of Malaysian amateur footballers. During the series, the team visited Manchester United’s training fields, where they faced a selection of United players. The game finished in a stalemate.
‘MyTeam2’ premiered in 2007. They were defeated 2–0 against the Indonesian football team. Singh was named technical advisor to Malaysia Super League club Melaka TMFC in 2007.
