According to Foot Mercato, West Ham are interested in bringing Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, the centre-forward department at West Ham is a bit thin, so it’s no surprise to see David Moyes eyeing another frontman.

Foot Mercato believe the Hammers are closely monitoring Ajorque, who is enjoying a fine season over in France.

The 27-year-old has scored ten goals in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this term, while he’s also provided six assists.

In total, Ajorque has scored 79 goals throughout his career.

Foot Mercato describe the Frenchman as someone who is perfectly suited to the Premier League, although they cast doubt over the move.

It is said that Strasbourg are unlikely to let their talisman leave during the middle of the season, although they could allow a summer departure.

Ajorque is contracted to the French outfit until June 2024, so it would presumably require a sizeable offer to get him to the Premier League.

Things are going pretty well for West Ham right now as they sit fourth in the Premier League, but that could all change.

If Michail Antonio were to suffer an injury, the Irons would lose their only focal point, as well as their only recognised centre-forward.

Of course, the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Nikola Vlasic and Said Benrahma can play as a centre-forward, but they lack the presence Antonio provides.

Standing at nearly 6ft 5in, Ajorque would certainly be able to act as a target man for the east Londoners if Antonio suffered an injury.

If not the Frenchman, Moyes definitely needs at least one new striker.

West Ham have the Europa League knockout phase to deal with, while they’re also in with a real chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

To give Moyes the best chance of success, West Ham must provide him with another striker this month.
