Two guards taken hostage at French jail

PARIS, Oct 5 (Reuters) – Two jail guards have been taken hostage at a jail in north-western France, and one of many guards has been injured in the proper eye, France’s justice ministry stated in an announcement.

The ministry stated negotiations had been underway to attempt to safe the discharge of the hostages on the jail in Conde-sur-Sarthe, about 250 km (155 miles) west of Paris.

Security items on the jail had been mobilized, and additional forces had been despatched to the jail, the ministry’s assertion stated.

French broadcaster BFMTV reported that the suspected hostage-taker was serving an extended sentence for rape and homicide.
