Teenager shot in Bronx park amid latest surge in NYC violence, NYPD says


An adolescent was shot within the Bronx in a single day, police and sources stated — amid a latest surge in lethal violence inflicted on younger New Yorkers.

A 17-year-old boy was blasted twice within the again with gunfire at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday in Pelham Bay Park, in keeping with the NYPD. The teen was strolling at Bruckner Boulevard and Wilkinson Avenue when he heard the gunfire, police stated.

The boy was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, and is anticipated to outlive his wounds, cops and sources advised The Post. It is unclear if he was the supposed goal of the gunfire, and police don’t but have an outline of the suspect.

The non-fatal capturing comes as The Post reported Friday that at least 21 folks between the ages of 10 and 17 have been killed in road violence in 2021 — greater than triple the quantity for a similar interval in 2019 and 2020. On Friday, a 16-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet whereas hanging out with buddies in Brooklyn on Friday, police sources beforehand stated.
