An unruly crowd gathered close to Philadelphia’s City Hall on Saturday evening, launching fireworks and leaping on a parked police automotive whereas road racers carried out donuts round a police cruiser.

The chaotic scene unfolded round midnight on Market Street close to City Hall.

Video recorded on the scene reveals fireworks lighting up the sky above the road amid a mass of individuals and snarled visitors. Apparent road racers had been seen drifting within the streets and intersections. One automotive was recorded doing donuts round a stopped police cruiser whereas spectators watched.

The subsequent morning, video confirmed skid marks within the form of enormous circles on the street.

Philadelphia police mentioned the division is investigating the incident and searching for members of the group, FOX29 Philadelphia reported.

At least one police automotive was broken after folks within the crowd jumped on its hood. There had been no stories of accidents associated to the incident.

“Our number one priority is the safety of the public, which can, and often does become compromised when individuals behave in a reckless manner that endangers themselves and those around them,” a police spokesperson advised the station. 

Police have but to make any arrests as of Monday morning.

Investigators mentioned comparable incidents had been reported over the weekend as unruly crowds proceed to be “an ongoing issue within the city,” the station reported. One incident reportedly concerned 200 vehicles.

These kinds of incidents involving drivers performing stunts in streets or vacant heaps are typically known as “sideshows,” in keeping with the Philadelphia Inquirer, and are sometimes organized on social media.
