Senate votes to replenish Highway Trust Fund

The Senate voted Saturday to briefly replenish the Highway Trust Fund, simply hours after the House handed an emergency stopgap funding measure.

The Senate handed the measure by unanimous consent on Saturday and it’ll now proceed to President Biden’s desk for his signature.

Cash for the belief ran out midnight Thursday and resulted in “approximately 3,700” federal Department of Transportation staff being furloughed, the company mentioned in a press release on Friday.

The House — which is mired in negotiations over President Biden’s multi-trillion greenback infrastructure payments — held a separate vote to go the 30-day freeway funding extension.
