The 27th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival has been designed in a smarter frame in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, rigorously adhering to the Covid Protocol and keeping social distance. This edition, like the previous 26, is aimed at cinephiles, reviewers, actors, and those who want to stay in touch with the pulse of India’s artistic capital despite the pandemic. Aranyer Din Ratri, a 1970 classic by Satyajit Ray, would be the first film shown. Satyajit Ray, Chidananda Dasgupta, and Hungarian director Miklós Jancsó will be honoured with a centennial tribute at the festival. It will also pay respect to actors such as Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Dilip Kumar, and Jean Paul Belmondo.

Kolkata International Film Festival 2022 Date

State Government of West Bengal, upon careful consideration to the safety of the citizens have decided to temporarily postpone the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival scheduled to be held between 7-14 January 2022.  Finland will be the festival’s theme country this year. A total of six Finnish films will be presented. In the competitive part, fifty-nine films will be screened. Films will be screened at Nazrul Mancha and a few other locations in addition to the Nandan cultural complex in the city.
