Juventus unwilling to accept Arsenal move for Arthur, two crucial reasons

TuttoMercatoWeb report that Arthur has accepted the chance to join Arsenal on loan – but Juventus are unwilling to allow him to go, for two reasons. He still has a part to play, and a lack of permanent clause.

Arthur, 25, has struggled since joining Juventus from Barcelona in a deal that saw Miralem Pjanic go the other way. Of course, the move has not worked out for the Bosnia ace either – currently on loan at Besiktas.

Just 44 appearances have come the way of Arthur over the past 18 months. Little surprise, then, that a loan move is likely – and Arsenal are keen to bring him in. The Gunners are severely lacking in the middle of the park.

While Arthur has agreed to join Arsenal on loan – Juve are unwilling to accept the move for two reasons. Firstly, he remains a part of the first team and, that there is no financial gain to Juventus – a permanent clause.

Juventus preventing Arthur move: What Arsenal need to do…

Rated at £50million by Juventus – as per La Repubblica – Arsenal need to include a permanent clause in the deal. To save themselves, avoiding an obligation is key – but finding a compromise will get their man.

The Gunners lack options. Mo Elneny and Thomas Partey are at AFCON and Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined Roma on loan. So, including a permanent clause with an up front loan fee is only fair on both sides.

Whether it should be as much as £50million is another question. But if the Gunners can strike a deal between £35million and £40million in total – then it is a deal worth doing.
