Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli in The London Evening Standard after the Carabao Cup tie at the Emirates Stadium.

Klopp’s Liverpool got the better of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal 2-0 in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Thursday evening.

Portugal international forward Diogo Jota scored both the goals for the Reds.

After the game, Liverpool boss Klopp spoke highly of Arsenal’s Brazilian forward Martinelli.

Klopp said: “Martinelli, by the way, everyone should remember that name. Outstanding player.”

This is not the first time that Klopp has publicly praised Martinelli.

Back on October 31, 2019 after the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Arsenal, Klopp told Liverpool’s official website that Martinelli is “a talent of the century” and is “an incredible striker”.

Gabriel Martinelli impresses for Arsenal v Liverpool

In our view, Martinelli played well for Arsenal against Liverpool and should be proud of himself.

The Brazilian forward started on the left of an attacking four behind lone striker Alexandre Lacazette and was one of the very few Arsenal players who did well.

Martinelli did cause problems for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in the first half and was always looking to make things happen for Arsenal.

The 20-year-old took two shots and one was on target, had a pass accuracy of 80%, won two headers, took 53 touches, attempted four dribbles, made two tackles and one clearance, and put in six crosses.
