We thank Dr Daniel Ng Peng Keat for sharing his considerations on the employment prospects of individuals with disabilities (Do extra to arrange individuals with disabilities for work, Nov 27).

The Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Social and Family Development are dedicated to supporting the employment aspirations of individuals with disabilities. This contains getting ready them for work by means of high quality training and dealing with employers to help them within the office.

To put together our college students for work, MOE has intently partnered particular training (Sped) faculties to implement a personalized curriculum and supply devoted coaching services to help vocational training. We agree with Dr Ng that agency dedication is required from all stakeholders to help Sped graduates. While the Government will pursue initiatives to help their instructional wants and strengthen their job prospects, this should go hand in hand with the energetic participation and help of employers and the broader neighborhood. Together, we are able to help our Sped graduates to contribute meaningfully to society, and lead lives with dignity and objective.
