Finland and Belgium did not recommend their citizens to visit Russia via Euro-Gazeta.Ru

Alexei Sorokin, general manager of the Organizing Committee of the Russian part of the European Championship – 2020, commented on the process of preparation of St. Petersburg for the start of the tournament.

“How many fans from abroad are expected in St. Petersburg? I won’t say for sure, but there will be thousands of them. They won’t fill half the stadium, equally, most fans are Russian. For the three more matches, we still can’t say anything for sure, as sales are still going on.

For such a tournament, this is an extremely unusual situation, as at this point everything is usually already sold out and the geography of the fans is familiar. But such is the reality – everyone has been prepared for the consequences of drastic changes.

The largest number of foreign fans will come from Finland due to its geographical proximity. But there will be Swedes and Poles, a little less than the Belgians. That is, there will be fans, but not overwhelming numbers. Some governments have made recommendations for citizens not to visit Russia. Whether this decision is justified or not is not for us to judge. Probably, a certain number of fans could stop it, ”Sorokin quotes. “SE”

The official also explained that these countries are Finland and Belgium.

The European Championship 2020 will take place from June 11 to July 11, 2021. The meeting with the Belgian national team will be the first for the Russian team in this tournament. The match will take place on June 12 in St. Petersburg.

Also in the group stage of Euro 2020, the team Stanislav Cherchov will play with the national teams of Finland (June 16, St. Petersburg) and Denmark (June 21, Copenhagen).

Alexei Sorokin had said that before Russia could accept Euro 2028.
