Father Brown has always brightened up our dark winter days with its bright and breezy murder mysteries and things are about to get sunnier as the padre and Inspector Mallory pay a visit to a nearby holiday camp.

However, the trip doesn’t stay peaceful for long as the show’s sky-high murder rate increases yet again.

As ever in Father Brown, the newly released season 9 welcomes back a host of familiar faces while also introducing us to plenty of new characters along the way but just who joins the cast of episode 7?

Father Brown season 9 episode 7 release date and plot

Episode 7 of Father Brown series 9 arrives on BBC One and iPlayer at 1:45pm on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022.

Titled The Island of Dreams, the episode sees Father Brown pay a visit to Chummy’s holiday camp.

However, not only does the sleuthing cleric bring the weather with him, but also Kembleford’s troubling murder rates as it’s not long before someone at the camp mysteriously dies.

Lesley Nicol as Marjorie Chummy

Episode 7 boasts a star-studded list of guest stars, beginning with Lesley Nicol who takes on the role of the holiday camp’s owner, Marjorie Chummy.

The Manchester-born actress has appeared in over 60 roles since making her debut in 1985 with notable appearances coming in Downton Abbey as Mrs Patmore, Summer Camp Island, Beecham House, Amazon’s The Boys as well as the murder mysteries Inspector George Gently, Marple, and A Touch of Frost.

Ted Robbins as Jock McCudgeon

Ted Robbins is another huge name among the cast list of episode 7 as he takes on the role of Jock McCudgeon, an entertainer at the holiday camp.

The Liverpool-born actor made his debut back in 1981’s Chariots of Fire but is better known for his roles in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, Mount Pleasant, Coronation Street and CBBC talent show The Slammer.

Zita Sattar as Mavis Jug

With almost 40 roles to her name, Zita Sattar will be another familiar face to many as she takes on the role of Mavis Jug.

The actress made her debut back in the 1980s but her more recent credits have included Years and Years, Coronation Street, Mount Pleasant, Casualty and Greg Davies’ The Cleaner where she played Police Officer Ruth.

David Rees Talbot as Griff Grimshaw

David Rees Talbot spends much of the episode in a dog costume as he takes on the role of Griff Grimshaw.

The actor will have been more recognisable in the likes of The Crown, The Gospel of Us and The Bench.

Will Hislop as Sandy Beauchamp

And finally, we come to Will Hislop who takes on the role of Sandy Beauchamp.

The actor has just 12 roles to his name, with notable appearances coming in Gangs of London, Military Wives, Grantchester and the Greek mini-series Card Postal.
