Facebook says root reason for outage was defective configuration change

Oct 4 (Reuters) – Facebook Inc (FB.O) on Monday cited defective configuration adjustments on its routers as the foundation reason for the almost six-hour outage that prevented the corporate’s 3.5 billion customers from accessing its social media and messaging companies.

“Our engineering teams have learned that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers caused issues that interrupted this communication,” Facebook said in a weblog submit.
