Iconic singer Ronnie Spector passed away at the age of 78. Apart from gaining popularity as the lead singer of the Ronettes, she was also known for her marriage to her ex-husband and record producer Phil Spector.

Ronnie was vocal about their tumultuous relationship, but respected and honored Phil for his contribution to the industry.

The couple was also parents to three children they raised together. Here’s everything we know about them.

Who are Ronnie Spector’s children?

Ronnie and her ex-husband Phil got married in 1968 and they shared three children.

According to The Sun, their first son, Donte Philip, was born in March 1969. Ronnie and Phil adopted him the same year as his birth.

Three years later in 1966, they adopted twins Loius and Gary Phillip. They were born on May 12, 1966.

However, their marriage lasted for less than a decade and the couple ended up separating in 1972. Their divorce was finalized in 1974.

Ronnie married her manager Jonathan Greenfield in 1982 and they had two sons named Austin Drew and Jason Charles.

The statement released by Ronnie’s family following her death notes that she died in the “arms of her husband”.

What happened to Phil Spector?

Phil Spector reportedly died from COVID-related complications in January 2021. He was serving his sentence in the prison at the time.

Ronnie paid tribute to her ex-husband on Instagram a day after his death, reflecting on his accomplishments and their past relationship.

She wrote, “When I was working with Phil Spector, watching him create in the recording studio, I knew I was working with the very best. “

“The magical music we were able to make together, was inspired by our love. I loved him madly, and gave my heart and soul to him,” her caption read further.

Fans and friends of Ronnie’s have taken to Twitter to share their condolences after learning about her death.

Brian Wilson tweeted, “I just heard the news about Ronnie Spector and I don’t know what to say. I loved her voice so much and she was a very special person and a dear friend. This just breaks my heart. Ronnie’s music and spirit will live forever. Love & Mercy, Brian”

Mellisa Rivers wrote, “As the lead singer of the Ronettes, and the foundation in the famed “Wall of Sound,” Ronnie Spector changed pop music forever. A true performer and artist until the very end. RIP”

“Oh Lord, I am heartbroken. Ronnie Spector was almighty fine, and always will remain so. God rest her,” tweeted another fan.
