Kevin Campbell has claimed that Arsenal trio Eddie Nketiah, Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares are ‘not good enough’ for Mikel Arteta, as he told the Highbury Squad.

The Arsenal legend claimed that it’s time the club invested in the squad and made it ‘stronger’.

In terms of Arsenal’s starting XI, when fit, there is a core that is now starting to build strong partnerships.

But, when certain personnel are out of the first-team picture, for one reason or another, then the gulf in quality can be seen.

That was probably obvious during Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Championship side Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

As a result, Campbell thinks more money needs to be put into the squad, as he shared his honest views on Nketiah, Cedric and Chambers.

“We know what Eddie is,” said Campbell. “After the cup game, scores a hat-trick and does really well.

“We know that he isn’t the answer. We know Cedric isn’t the answer. Calum Chambers definitely isn’t the answer either.

“They aren’t just good enough, let’s just be real. Eddie’s not good enough, Chambers and Cedric. We have to invest in our squad. We need a stronger squad.”

Out of the above players, Nketiah has been the one who has played the most minutes this season, even though he isn’t a first-team regular.

The Englishman’s contract at the Emirates is due to expire in the summer and there aren’t many signs that he will sign on the dotted line.

In truth, Nketiah isn’t really breaking down the door and showing the world that he should be handed a new deal on his terms.

So, it’s probably not a bad idea if Arsenal did part ways with him because he isn’t making the club’s decision impossible.
