Australian Open prize money revealed as Tennis gears up for first Grand Slam of 2022

How much Australian Open prize money is on offer for players in the first Grand Slam of 2022? Is there any difference between male and female players?

Finally, the off-court drama can end as the on-court sport takes centre stage in Melbourne over the next two weeks.

The first Grand Slam has been overshadowed by Novak Djokovic being detained, released, re-detained and finally kicked out of Australia after the federal court upheld the decision of the Australian immigration minister to cancel his visa a second time.

Djokovic was going for a record-extending 10th Australian Open title in Melbourne – one that would have seen him eclipse great rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as the most successful men’s player of all.

But Djokovic is now no longer in Australia, as attention turns to those who actually are.

What is the prize money on offer for the Australian Open? How does it compare to recent years for players – and what’s the split between men’s and women’s offerings?
