Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo wants to sign for Arsenal this month as he waits for Massimiliano Allegri to green light his move to North London.

Reports from The Express earlier this week suggested that Edu was really keen on bringing Arthur to Arsenal.

Those reports accelerated on Wednesday. Goal in Italy reported that Arsenal’s proposal – taking Arthur on loan for the rest of the season and paying his full wages – is what Juventus want.

Juventus allegedly needed a replacement brought in first, but Arsenal’s hopes of signing Arthur are rising.

The Daily Mail report that Arthur is keen to make the move to Arsenal. However, he’s waiting for a final answer from boss Allegri.

Allegri hasn’t exactly taken to Arthur.

Arthur has started just three Serie A games this season. He was even banished from training in December, with Allegri unhappy with his timekeeping.

However, Arthur turned in a decent performance in Sunday’s come back win over Roma. That sparked hope that the Brazilian would be back in favour.

Unfortunately for the midfielder, he was only a substitute against Inter Milan on Wednesday night.

It seems Allegri still doesn’t see Arthur as a key man, meaning Arsenal have real hope of securing a deal.

Juventus paid £66million to sign Arthur in 2020, but he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.

Previously seen as being a star of the future for Barcelona, Arthur has somewhat lost his way and needs to get back on track.

The 25-year-old could do that with Arsenal in a move rather reminiscent of Martin Odegaard’s loan move last year.

That ended up becoming a permanent move, so who can rule out the same for Arthur if Arsenal can get him on loan?

That may be the hope for Edu and Arteta, with talks now ongoing over a loan deal at the moment.
